Marginalized members of New Haven have historically been withheld from conversations and decisions made on behalf of their communities. In fact, during the city’s urban renewal era, the city sought to minimize public involvement by strategically planning public meetings and hearings, scheduling meetings at inconvenient times to prevent working residents from participating.

We are committed to creating a space for community members to be major stakeholders in the decisions that directly affect their communities. We seek to democratize the development, design, and realization of the Haven Arts Park.
